Gran Canaria Beaches

Gran Canaria Beaches are some of the best in Spain. The Canary Islands are located off the coast of Africa. They are an archipelago of seven islands and sixislets. For government purposes they are divided in two provinces, Las Palmas on the east with 3 islands, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. On the west is the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with 4 islands, Tenerife, La Palma Island, La Gomera and El Hierro. They are integral part of Spain despite the distance from the Iberian Peninsula. Because of its latitude they feature some of the best beaches in Europe and a mild warm weather all year round. Here we are going to mention some of the Best Gran Canaria Beaches. They are some of the best of all Canary islands Beaches. I use the Spanish word of Playas for Beaches. Playa de las Canteras Located on the district of Las Canteras, this Gran Canaria's beach resort features a great city beach offering hotels, shops, restaurants and bars. It is near Santa Catalina and La Isleta. It lies on a bay near Las Palmas, Gran Canaria's capital city. The beach is protected by La Barra, a reef protecting the beach and making it practically a lagoon where even those that don't swim can enjoy its waters. Playa de las Alcaravaneras This is a beautiful stretch of golden sand with a selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. This beach offers lots of activities like beach volley ball, sailing and canoeing. It also features sun beds, showers and kiosks with refreshments. Playa Maspalomas Maspalomas beach is located on the islands southernmost tip. Together with Playa del Ingles, they form the largest stretch of beach of Gran Canaria and also the most popular. Here you may realize you are next to Africa's coast because the large dunes of sand that continues to the beach. They are called Dunas de Maspalomas. The white sands stretch for about 4 miles. It offers many water sports, bars, restaurants and night clubs. It has all the facilities you may expect from such an important beach resort. Playa de Puerto Rico google_ad_channel = "7940249670, " + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel; google_language = "en"; google_ad_region = 'test'; In honor to its namesake, my beautiful island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean, it is the warmest spot on Gran Canaria. It features a beautiful beach with a great selection of water sports that range from jet skiing and sailing to diving, fishing and windsurfing. It is a family oriented resort with lots of children games and activities in the golden sand. The Atlantic waters are warm and a constant breeze cools the weather to make it excellent for a great beach holiday. The resort has public pool located near the beach and a garden of tropical vegetation and flowers. In Puerto Rico you'll find many amenities, like showers, sun beds and more, to enjoy its crescent shaped beach with sands brought all the way from neighboring Sahara Desert. This is a real paradise for sun worshippers. Playa de los Amadores This beach, translated to English means "Lovers Beach" is located a few minutes' walk from Puerto Rico. It is a half mile cove of golden beach protected from the sea. The waters are crystal clear. Since ball playing is not allowed on this beach it is good for families with small children. It has a variety of restaurants and bars. San Agustín Beach San Agustin Beach resort was first established in 1970 even before Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. It is located near Bahia Feliz, a very popular windsurfing spot. It is resort with character and offers all the amenities you can expect. A Gran Canaria resort with class, San Agustin has all the amenities you'd expect from a good resort like plenty accommodation, commercial centers with shops, restaurants and bars. They even have casinos. In summary a good beach for swimming and snorkeling. The sands at this beach are dark, lined by a busy promenade. Playa del Ingl
