Intel

Intel refers to the Processor. Any person purchasing computer is keen on purchasing a computer that has Intel processor. Intel has acquired the edge over two giant processor manufacturers namely AMD and Motorola. Initially, in 1975 the home computers had 4bit Motorola processor or the 6502 MOS technology. They never had any keyboard and relied on the TV and Joysticks to display and control any work. Conversely, they were considered as Game Machines. This was the time that the Texas Instruments developed TI99 and was believed to introduce external components by late 1970s.

IBM also put its foot in competing with the game machines and went farther for big business. The advent of 8 bit processor from Intel created a great demand as this was a stand alone system and required a keyboard and an individual video. However, it featured other items such as serial port, printer port and also disk operating system. IBM gathered various resources from all over the country and produced new waves in the field of electronics. A software engineer in association with his company in Seattle developed the disk operating system for IBM. IBM would purchase this 8 bit Intel and the 8086 processor. This was associated with I/O chips to make a computer. IBM licensed the rights from New York for floppy drive. In addition to this, they also licensed I/O chips, serial ports, parallel and memory control from California.

IBM emerged as a sovereign without any competition. The business world understood the need of Pc that had the capacity of solving complex math computations, word processing and also displayed the results on the video screen. It also saved the work to a floppy disk and gave out hard copies as documents. Apple and Motorola also started working and apple caught up the race behind IBM after two years. The fast pace viewed it as two decades. Eventually, IBM maintained the lead. IBM was developing at a phenomenal rate and was out pacing the productivity of Intel. Now the growing demand of IBM forced Intel to look for an associate to produce the chips and 8086. Owing to this, Intel came upon a deal with AMD to produce 8086 and its co-processor. This was the time that the market had identical PCs as IBM and was known as 'Clones'. They also used Intel 8086. In 1982, Intel pioneered 80286 processor and at this time AMD infringed the copyright of Intel and produced its processor. The race of producing processors was heating with Apple, Mac II, Motorola and AMD. In 1993, Intel emerged with Pentium. They had lost the battle with AMD for patent infringement and hence named it as Pentium and AMD was left to design own processors.

Now, the computing world has two unique processors Intel and AMD. However, the Intel processors have earned good reputation as they consume less power and produce less heat as well. The Intel duo processor is definitely the best solution to AMD processor. However, new innovations are expected to make a breakthrough.
