There are several tips to follow while jogging. These tips will help you to increase your jogging performance and to enjoy your exercise program more. Another way to get jogging tips is by talking with a coach or a friend who jogs.

One of the first jogging tips is to consult your physician if you are overweight and want to start jogging. Jogging can be very hard at first. Your physician may have some pointers and other exercises that will help you to build up to jogging on a regular basis.

The second tip is to give up smoking before you start jogging. Jogging is great for your cardiovascular system but if you are a smoker you will get exhausted fast and this could lead to heart palpitations. Jogging and smoking is very hard on the cardiovascular system.

The third tip is to invest in a pair of good jogging shoes. Sometimes the right pair of shoes can make a world of difference. The fourth jogging tip is to avoid jogging on hilly terrain. If you jog on hilly terrain you have a higher risk of becoming injured. If you run downhill then you may tumble over yourself.

Jogging tip number five deals with taking longer and steadier strides while you are jogging. It is important to land your steps without splaying over each other. If you splay over then you may injure your ankles.

When you are jogging make sure to avoid bouncing too much. Keep your posture in an erect position and do not hunch over. This will be easier on your muscles, bones and joints while you are jogging.

When you jog make sure to choose a place that you enjoy jogging in such as a local park, along the beach or on a trail through the woods. This will make your jog more enjoyable and give you something to look forward to each day.

When jogging start out slow and then gradually increase your speed. Take your time and get use to jogging. As a rule most joggers hog around ten to twelve miles a week. You can do more or less. You should feel comfortable while jogging.

The last jogging tip is to carry a walkman or mp3 player while you are jogging. Music helps to relax the mind. Remember that jogging is suppose to be fun, decrease stress and be a type of exercise that you look forward to.
